On this full-day expedition, we leave the standard tourist routes behind to show you the raw, untamed spirit of the North Coast. You will feel the pulse of the island as our Land Rover climbs through dense green forests, grips the dirt tracks, and opens up to views that will leave you speechless.

Itinerary
Our day starts right at your doorstep or a nearby meeting point in Funchal, where you'll hop into the Land Rover and meet the group. We waste no time hitting the road, making our first brief stop in the charming coastal village of Santa Cruz to stretch our legs, catch the morning sea breeze, and prep for the rugged terrain ahead.
Next, we head up to Porto da Cruz to breathe in the sweet, heavy aroma of a historic sugarcane mill, where you'll get a real taste of the island's famous traditional rum. From there, the real fun begins as we drive into Santana, rolling past the picture-perfect, traditional thatched-roof cottages before spinning the wheels onto the dusty dirt tracks that cut deep into the emerald mountains.
We push further into the wild to reach the breathtaking Boca das Voltas viewpoint in São Jorge, a hidden gem where dramatic cliffs plunge straight into the vast Atlantic ocean below. After taking in the views, we head down to Arco de São Jorge for a relaxed, peaceful lunch right by the water, listening to the crashing waves and soaking in the slow, authentic rhythm of northern life.
The grand finale takes us into the stunning valley of São Vicente for an exclusive visit to Quinta do Barbusano. We will walk through the sun-drenched vineyards and sit down for an incredible guided tasting of six distinct local wines - three whites, a rosé, and two reds - while the kids enjoy a special tasting of local juices and snacks. Sun-kissed and full of unforgettable memories, we’ll wind back over the mountain passes as the day comes to a perfect close.
